The majority of visitors to Mauritius will arrive by air, particularly those coming from the UK and Europe. The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) is the main point of entry for visitors arriving by plane and is located near Plaisance, in the South East of the Island.

Since the main tourist beaches are around the North of the Island, we recommend arranging an airport transfer to your hotel to ensure a smooth arrival, either with your hotel itself or through an agency, as road travel can be slow and the flight to Mauritius is long and tiring.

The main airlines flying to Mauritius from the UK are British Airways, Virgin, Emirates (via Dubai), Air France (via Paris) and Air Mauritius, though it may also be possible to fly with Air Seychelles and South African Airways.
